---- Brown strong in twin 75’s at Delaware ----

Waterdown youngster builds on Rookie of the Year chase

WATERDOWN, ONTARIO – Even before the pit gates even opened at Delaware Speedway last Friday night, you could feel the tension in the air – it was everywhere. The Twin 75’s are an important weekend for Delaware racers, and Tyler Brown was looking forward to the challenge of running two races in a night. Both races counted toward the track championship and everyone knew a lot of visiting teams would be there to contend for wins - Brown’s # 91 team being no different.
There are only six events remaining on the 2006 schedule, and this event counted for two of the six, which made the night that much more important.

In total, 27 teams converged to race. With this only being Brown’s second attempt at timed qualifying, the team didn’t know what to expect. Brown would qualify 21st out of 27 but with less, but that didn’t give a good indication of his speed because the top 22 were covered by less than half a second.
When the green flag dropped, the action started on the second lap and would continue throughout the first 75 lap race. It seemed that the race was more aggressive than usual, with rough driving and little respect shown for fellow competitors. For Brown, and the others, it was a test of driver ability and driver patience. Brown kept his cool and all his fenders, and would cross the line in 11th.

For the second race Brown would start 11th. The top 12 cars raced nose to tail for the first part of the race. After dodging so many wrecks, Brown knew it was only a matter of time before he got caught up in one. Coming off turn four, Brown wasn’t able to avoid a three car crash, and it resulted in damage to the right front of the car. With the damage, the team had no choice to pit, which left Brown a lap down. Undeterred, Brown went back out and battled hard, coming home 17th in the second race, which was good enough to move him up to 10th in the standings and extended his Rookie of the Year lead by another 5 points.
