-------- Season gets a Passing Grade!
--------
WATERDOWN, ONTARIO – Labour
Day Weekend marked the end of the official 2007 season for
Tyler Brown, although the 16 year old will continue to race
in special events in both Pennsylvania and Ontario throughout
the next month. For the second year in a row Brown finished
the season in the top ten at Delaware Speedway near London
Ontario and he finished tied for 2nd in the inter-track WWS
Elite Series championship where drivers from both Flamboro
and Delaware compete for bragging rights.
“We have had a very up
and down season” Tyler said. “Either we ran really
well, or we just couldn’t get a break and would have
a tough night. It was very frustrating on the team and myself
because we couldn’t maintain any momentum this year.
But I learned a lot in my second full year in this division
and I have had a great season representing all the sponsors
who have helped our race program this year”.
Looking forward, Tyler and the
#91 will be at Flamboro Speedway the last 2 weekends in September
culminating in the annual Oktoberfest 100 lap Late Model race
on Sunday September 30th. Then the focus will turn to February
when Tyler and the team head to Florida for speedweeks where
he will compete in the “World Series of Asphalt Racing”,
a grueling 8 nights of racing at New Smyrna Speedway that
lead up to the kick off to the 2008 race season and the Daytona
500.
In addition to preparing the
teams 2 cars for the trip south for Florida preparations are
already in the works for the 2008 race season. Next year the
grade 11 student will look to compete on a regular basis south
of the border which is the direction he must take if he is
to continue to move up the motorsport ladder.
Tyler Brown is 16 years
old and from Waterdown, Ontario. During 2006 Tyler became
the youngest late model driver in the history of Delaware
Speedway en route to capturing the 2006 “Rookie of the
Year” title and finishing 10th in seasons points. In
2005 Tyler won his 1st race in his 2nd official start in the
Ontario Pro Challenge series. In seven years of karting he
started more than 225 races and won one “Championship”,
“Most Improved Driver Award”, and a “Team
of the Year” award. At the local level he has never
finished lower than 5th in series points and at the regional
or national level he has never finished lower than 10th.
